Bernie Coffin is a descendent of the Coffin and Hussey families - two of the original families that settled Nantucket in 1659. The relationship of Nantucket history, along with the appreciation and knowledge of this island, runs deep and long for all those associated with Coffin and 'Sconset Real Estate.

Grace Cofffin began Coffin Real Estate in 1963 and built a well respected reputation. Grace's husband, Richard, took over 'Sconset Real Estate from Mildred Burgess in 1968. 'Sconset Real Estate is the oldest continuously operated real estate firm in the Village of Siasconset. Bernie began his real estate career in 'Sconset in 1968 and Carol Cofffin began her real estate career in 1976. The two firms joined in 1979.

Today, Carol and Bernie are the owners/brokers of Coffin & 'Sconset Real Estate with locations owned, at 40 Centre Street in downtown Nantucket and the Post Office building in Siasconset. Recently they have restored the 'Sconset Post Office building back to its' 1890's integrity.
