Bernie Coffin is a descendent of the Coffin and Hussey families - two of the original families that settled Nantucket in 1659. This relationship to Nantucket history, along with the appreciation and knowledge of this island, runs deep and long for all those associated with Coffin/'Sconset Real Estate.

Grace Coffin began Coffin Real Estate in 1963 and built a well-respected reputation. Grace's husband, Richard, took over 'Sconset Real Estate from Mildred Burgess in 1968. 'Sconset Real Estate is the oldest continuously operated real estate firm in the village of Siasconset. Bernie began his real estate career working along side his father in 'Sconset. Bernie's wife, Carol, began her real estate career in 1976. In 1979 the two firms joined together under Grace's leadership.

Today, Carol and Bernie are the owners/brokers of Coffin/'Sconset Real Estate with locations owned at 40 Centre Street in downtown Nantucket, and the Post Office building in Siasconset. Recently they have restored the 'Sconset building back to its' 1890's integrity.

In 2000, Carol and Bernie bought Angelastro Real Estate, and were fortunate to have those expert and professional agents join the Coffin team. Our continued philosophy of treating our clients on a personal and individual basis, with that of mutual respect, is reflected by the longevity of our agents' association with our company.
